ePayment FAQs

1. Where can I access ePayment?

ePayment is available on the WSIB website and through the eServices site. You can also make a payment over the phone, by calling 416-344-1000 or 1-800-387-0750 and follow the telephone prompts to connect with our online payment partner, Paymentus.

Payment by Visa or MasterCard Credit or Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard

1. What credit cards types are accepted?

We accept Visa or MasterCard.

2. Can I use American Express?

No, we only accept payment by Visa and MasterCard at this time.

3. Can I use Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard?

Yes.

4. How do I pay by Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard?

You can pay online or over the phone through our payment partner, Paymentus.

5. Does the WSIB accept Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard payments over the phone?

Yes, the WSIB offers an automated telephone payment system through our online partner, Paymentus. To make a payment to an account by Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard you can call 416-344-1000 or 1-800-387-0750 and follow the telephone prompts to connect with Paymentus. The telephone system is automated, and you have to enter your information using the telephone key pad. An operator is not available on the phone to assist you.

  • payment amount
  • credit or debit card information

6. Can I pay by Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard anytime?

Yes, payment options are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week from your computer or mobile device. Your payment is applied to your WSIB account within 24-48 hours depending on when your payment was made. If you made a payment on a weekend or holiday, the 24-48 hour period begins on the next business day.

7. What information do I need to pay by Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard online?

You will need to have your account number, firm number, the amount of your premium and your credit or debit card information.

8. When does the WSIB receive my Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard payment?

Your payment is applied to your WSIB account within 24-48 hours depending on when your payment was made. If you made a payment on a weekend or holiday, the 24-48 hour period begins on the next business day.

9. How is my Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard payment confirmed?

For each payment made, you will receive a confirmation number. If you pay online, you will also receive an email confirmation. Your payment is applied to your WSIB account within 24-48 hours depending on when your payment was made. You can see the change to your WSIB account if you log into your eServices account.

10.  Why is there a service fee for some payment options?

Visa and MasterCard charge businesses like the WSIB a percentage for processing payments. The WSIB does not include the processing fee in our customers’ premiums. In order to be fair to all customers, we have to ensure that the users of these services pay for the service. The service fee is collected through our bill payment partner, Paymentus. No portion of this service fee goes to the WSIB.

11.  What online payment options do not have a service fee?

The following payment options do not have a service fee associated with them:

  • Online or Telephone Banking through your financial institution
  • Interac Online, through our payment partner Paymentus

12. Why do you charge a service fee when other industries do not charge a service fee?

Most merchants embed this fee into the price of their product or service. However, we do not include the processing fee in WSIB premiums. Only those customers who choose to pay by Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard have to pay the service fee. The service fee is collected through our online payment partner, Paymentus . No portion of this service fee goes to the WSIB.

13. How much will I be paying in service fees?

The service fee amount depends on what amount you are charging to your Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard. A fee of 1.75% is applied to each payment amount. For example, if you make a $100 payment to the WSIB your service fee to Paymentus is $1.75.

14.  Does the WSIB receive any part of the service fee?

No, the WSIB does not receive any portion of the service fee.

15. How does the service fee appear on my Visa, MasterCard, or bank statement?

Your Visa, MasterCard or bank statement will show the amount paid to the WSIB and your service fee will be listed separately as “Paymentus Service Fee.”

Payment by Interac Online

1. Which banks accept debit using Interac Online?

You can find a list of financial institutions that currently offer Interac Online debit services on Interac’s website.

2. Does Interac Online charge a service fee?

No, Interac Online does not charge a service fee and offers a real-time update to eClearance.

3. Can I use Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard?

Yes, however, payments from Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard work on a different network from the Interac Online network, and you must select the Debit Card payment option if your debit card has a Visa or MasterCard logo. Only select the Interac Online payment option if your debit card only has the Interac logo.

4. What information do I need if I want to pay by debit using Interac Online?

You will need to have your:

  • account number
  • firm number
  • premium payment amount
  • bank card information 
  • online banking password

1. What happens when I use the one-time payment feature?

A one-time payment is made directly to our secure online payment partner, Paymentus. You will need to supply all of your payment information: account number, firm number and payment type.

2. What happens when I use the eServices payment feature?

If you are logged into your eServices account and select the "Pay now” button, all of your payment information (account number, firm number and current amount due) is automatically transferred to Paymentus. All you need to do is select your payment method. You can also set up a payment profile, so that when you log into eServices your payment information is automatically loaded as well. 

3. Can I pay my premium on my mobile device?

Yes. If you can access the full desktop site on your mobile device you can pay by Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, Debit MasterCard, or Interac Online.

4. I have an outstanding balance on my account. How do I get a clearance certificate?

If the only item on your account preventing you from getting a clearance is an outstanding balance and you pay your balance through Paymentus either online or using the automated telephone system, you can get a clearance certificate immediately. Paymentus is integrated with eClearance so that any payments made are reflected in real-time with eClearance. This allows you to come into compliance and get a clearance. Please note that your payment is applied to your WSIB account within 24-48 hours depending on when your payment was made. If you made a payment on a weekend or holiday, the 24-48 hour period begins on the next business day.
