Issues with Debit MasterCard payments

You may experience issues with Debit MasterCard payments made online through Paymentus. If you experience issues with Debit MasterCard, please see additional payment options below.

What is ePayment?

ePayment is a fast, convenient and secure payment channel.  You can pay your premiums through our online payment partner, Paymentus, using:

  • Visa or MasterCard credit
  • Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard
  • Interac Online

Note: Paymentus will charge a 1.75% service fee for Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, and Debit MasterCard payments. There is no charge for using Interac Online,  online banking or telephone banking through your financial institution   The WSIB does not receive any part of this service fee.

When you choose  our convenient online option, your payment is applied to your WSIB account within 24 to 48 hours, depending on when your payment was made. Our ePayment option is available 24/7. Payments made before midnight will be posted to your account within 48 hours. For each payment you will receive a confirmation number for your records. You will also receive an immediate email confirming the transaction.

If you pay through Paymentus, our system will immediately recognize the status of your payment. This will ensure your account remains in good standing; you are eligible for clearance certificates and will avoid any late payment charges.

If you use eClearance, an added feature is that ePayment is integrated with the eClearance system and payments made are reflected in real-time. This ensures you are compliant and can get a clearance certificate, if an outstanding payment is the only item on your account preventing you from doing so.

ePayment options

Online banking

You can pay your premiums online through your financial institution (bank, credit union etc.). Visit your bank’s website for details on how to set the WSIB as a bill payee on your bank account.

Note: When setting the WSIB as a bill payee, you will be required to choose either Schedule 1 (report and pay premiums) or Schedule 2 (pay claim costs) as an option.

Online credit or Debit payments through ePayment

  • To make a quick payment on just one account, you can use Pay Now for Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, Debit MasterCard or Interac Online

You can make the payment from your computer or mobile device. A list of financial institutions that currently offer Interac Online services is available on Interac’s website.

To pay by Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard, you will need your:

  • account number
  • firm number
  • payment amount
  • credit or debit card  information

When using Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard, Paymentus charges a service fee of 1.75% on your payment to use their service. For example, if your payment is $100, Paymentus will charge a service fee of $1.75. This fee goes directly to Paymentus; the WSIB does not receive the service fee.

Your payment is applied to your WSIB account within 24-48 hours depending on when your payment was made. If you made a payment on a weekend or holiday, the 24-48 hour period begins on the next business day.

To pay by debit via Interac Online, you will need your:

  • account number
  • firm number
  • payment amount
  • bank card information
  • online banking password

Using Interac Online through Paymentus is free; you will not be charged a service fee. Other payment options that do not have a service fee are Online and Telephone Banking through your financial institution.  Most financial institutions offer online payment options.

Using Paymentus via eServices

Logging into eServices gives you access to all of your account details. You can pay more than one premium at a time, confirm the amount of your payment and review the details of your payment history.

Under ePayment, click on the “Pay now” button to link to our online payment partner, Paymentus and pay your premium by Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, Debit MasterCard or Interac Online. Your account number, firm number and current amount due is automatically transferred to Paymentus. The only information you need to provide is the payment method.

You can also set up a payment profile, so that when you log into eServices your payment information is automatically loaded as well.

To access eServices, click on the log in button.

Telephone payment

To make a payment to an account using Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard, you can call Paymentus anytime at 1-855-288-7459. It is an automated system, so you’ll have to enter your information using the telephone key pad. An operator is not available on the phone to assist you.

You will need your:

  • account number
  • payment amount
  • Visa or MasterCard credit, Visa Debit, or Debit MasterCard information
