WSIB Statement on the Elliot Lake Algo Mall collapse

Toronto, June 27, 2012 - We extend our sincere condolences to all those affected by the Algo Mall collapse in Elliot Lake.

We have a special team - including crisis intervention counsellors and staff with experience in supporting bereaved families and seriously injured workers - to provide workers and families with the help they need. We also recognize the potential after-effects for first responders (e.g., firefighters and emergency medical workers) and others who were part of this event.

For eligible workers injured in the event, the WSIB will provide support through wage-loss benefits, health care benefits, as well as a range of recovery and rehabilitation services to help them get better and back to work.
