Bill 119: An Act to amend the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, 1997

A regulation pertaining to the Act defining the terms of exemption for certain executive officers and certain partners in partnerships has been passed by the government. View this regulation on e-laws.

The WSIB is now developing the necessary policies, systems and administrative processes to support the implementation of this legislation.

While the Bill has now passed through the legislative process, it is expected to become effective by 2012. Those in the construction industry who will be impacted by the legislation will not be required to register until the Act comes into effect.

Review our update on the consultation on draft policies for mandatory coverage in construction.
