      Important information for construction employers
      We have been working with your industry to clarify policies on reporting insurable earnings correctly. Learn how to avoid costly penalties (148k, pdf).

      Construction Return-to-Work Regulations Coming
      Consultations are still proceeding to establish specific return to work rules for employers and workers in construction. Participants in the discussions with the WSIB include management and labour representatives from organizations such as the Provincial Building Trades Council, the Council of Ontario Construction Associations, and the Ontario Homebuilders Association.

      In the meantime, please contact Construction Sector staff for any support you require in helping your injured workers get back to work.

      Remember, good return to work practices are an effective way to control claims costs!

    Independent Operators – Knowing Who Is and Isn’t
    Independent operators are not covered by WSIB insurance, but can apply for optional insurance. If you’re not sure who is an independent operator and who isn’t, download the Construction Independent Operators brochure (290k, pdf).

    Think you may be considered an Independent Operator?
    Complete an Independent Operators questionnaire and fax it back to us for our decision. You and the firm hiring you must complete this questionnaire before you begin work for that employer. Download the Construction Independent Operators Questionnaire (525k, pdf).
