At the WSIB, research is key to improving our efforts to prevent, treat, and compensate workplace injury and illness, and return workers to sustainable productive work.
The WSIB currently funds these major research initiatives:
The Research Advisory Council (RAC)
The WSIB Research Advisory Council is an independent, multi-stakeholder council that oversees the WSIB’s research grants program such as Solutions for Workplace Change and Bridging the Gap, as well as the Centres of Research Expertise.
The Institute for Work & Health (IWH)
The Institute for Work & Health is an independent, not-for-profit research organization established in 1990 by the WSIB to find ways to prevent workplace disability, improve treatment, and encourage early, safe return to work.
Intelligence & Innovation Branch
The WSIB’s Research and Program Evaluation teams within the Intelligence & Innovation Branch of the Prevention Division conduct and commission surveys and studies to help us find ways to improve services, evaluate the effectiveness of our programs, and contribute to knowledge about best practices in health and safety and return to work.
