    Influenza A H1N1

Many of our stakeholders have questions about coverage, benefits and services under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (the Act) for H1N1 claims.

Ontario is currently in flu season and the prevalence in the community is high.
During a time of pandemic, influenza such as H1N1 can be caused due to exposure at home, or in the community. It may be difficult to establish a link to the workplace when the illness is prevalent in the community.

Unlike the experience with SARS, the H1N1 influenza is a community-acquired illness and most instances of H1N1 will not be work-related.

This Q&A provides answers to some frequently asked questions, and also provides contact information for further inquiries.
